Me at the Namahagi Festival in the Ogta, Akita Prefecture, Japan, in January 2012

Developmental Process

This magazine cover was created as part of a class project, offering an enticing glimpse into the wonders of Japan during the winter season. Featuring suggestions for winter activities and exploration, it aims to inspire travelers to discover the beauty of Japan in colder months.
At the heart of the cover is a striking mask, symbolizing the Namahagai - enigmatic beings from Japanese folklore, known for their appearance during the Namahagi Festival in the Akita Prefecture. This mask holds personal significance, as it represents my firsthand experience of witnessing and participating in the festival during my undergraduate studies abroad in Akita.
